A musical history of Cape Verde

The history of Cape Verde cannot be imagined without the music of this West African archipelago. Over the centuries, the former Portuguese colony served as a hub of the transatlantic slave trade, faced famines and fought for independence and democracy. The music processed and influenced this eventful history.
